Interpreter Rules

• UPDATE: Rules, Deaf Persons Interpreters' Act – June 26, 2014

With the new rules for PA 204 taking effect on July 7th, there are many questions about what they mean and who's affected. MDCR is committed to helping you understand the impact of the rules on you and other stakeholders (schools, physicians, lawyers, and more).

• Online Interpreter Directory The Interpreter Directory is published as required by P.A. 204 of 1982 to assist with effective communication. The DODDBHH cannot, however, guarantee the effectiveness of everyone listed in the directory. Please contact the DODDBHH for consultation and technical assistance when providing services to persons with hearing loss.

• Division on Deaf, Deafblind and Hard of Hearing This state office concentrates on helping to improve the lives of Michigan's one million Deaf, Deafblind and Hard of Hearing citizens. Our mission is affirming the indisputable right of Deaf, Deafblind and Hard of Hearing Persons to secure effective communication. It receives input from its 13-member citizens Advisory Council appointed by the Governor. Services include Technical Support, Information and Referral, Accommodations, Interpreter Information and Services..
